Why Raven Herron & Company?
As someone who specializes in and thrives on business operations, you wouldn’t necessarily expect someone like me at an accounting firm. However, 20 + years in the accounting industry brought me to Raven Herron & Company, and the team members, clients and vision for the business inspired me to become part of the team. This firm truly cares — about the clients we serve and the team that provides that service. We understand who we really work with the best, which leads to great relationships. Having great relationships with those I spend every day with is extremely important to me.
Why me?
I started in the accounting industry in 2001. I spent close to 15 years working for a software company where I learned the critical aspects of customer service and the nuances of training. Exposure to a wide range of business owners, efficient and inefficient firms in the industry allowed me to develop a strong understanding of how clear and efficient business operations add value to client relationships. It provides a better balance of time for the team within the business. I love how my role allows our team a better life balance and provides clarity in our clients’ expectations.
What makes me capable?
I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My father was a mechanic by trade who owned an auto repair business, and my parents together owned a rental cabin business in Michigan. I saw the hard work that went into both operations, and the work ethic they modeled helps me understand how important small businesses really are. This exposure along with my business management degree, my software experience, and 10 years of consulting with account firm owners gives me a unique perspective into business operations within the account firm.
About me?
Want to know a secret? I couldn’t add my way out of a paper bag if my life depended on it! So don’t ask me to balance your balance sheet. However, if you want to take a long walk on the beach in Michigan where I live with my husband, two kids, dog and chickens, I’m in! I love where I live, even if it is a slight bit cold in the winter. You’ll find me reading a book by the fireplace when it snows or on the beach watching the kids build sandcastles in the summer. I’m also passionate about cooking, hiking and spending time out on the boat.
