Tax Associate

As a Tax Associate, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting clients by leveraging our tax processes using the latest technology. You’ll work closely with clients, ensuring they receive a thoughtful and intentional client experience and use your critical thinking skills to manage projects and various initiatives as they are assigned. This in-office or remote role is ideal for someone that thrives in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment and is passionate about leveraging technology to enhance productivity and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Management

  • Manage client communication promptly
  • Review and update tasks as work progresses
  • Prepare for, attend and help manage client meetings

Data Entry

  • Prepare individual tax returns and easy level business returns
  • Support the tax planning process by handling tasks delegated by the tax managers
  • Assist the bookkeeping process by:
    • Potentially manage a handful of small bookkeeping clients
    • Learn to understand and review financial statements
    • Make basic corrections to support preparation of the tax return
  • Independently research tax situations to gather proposed solutions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local filings

Office Administration

  • Manage client files and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Maintain your calendar
  • Provide support to the leadership team for special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by exploring new technologies and tools that can enhance our office efficiency and client experience. Your innovative ideas will be welcomed and encouraged.

Qualifications & Desired Skills:

2-4 years of tax preparation experience preferred.

CPA candidate or pursuit of the CPA a preferred.

Minus CPA, a degree in accounting or enrolled agent certification a bonus.

Driven to learn and grow, either within your role or to advance.

Excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with cloud-based productivity tools.

Willingness to adapt and learn new technology.

Ability to work independently.

Critical thinking skills.

Excellent time management.

Experience with managing multiple priorities, deadlines and budgets; willingness to work extra hours during year end close or at other deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 40 hrs/week with overtime during certain months. (we try to limit tax season overtime to 55 billable hours)

Salary: Based on experience, starting around $25-$30 per hour.
